Restless

I'm feeling the itch to find somewhere new. New York, or Ireland, or Spain, or India. Somewhere else. My rent ends in September, but my landlord might be getting evicted soon, so I could leave and not sacrifice my security deposit.

Where does this life go, what does it mean to be alive? How do all these people get up in the morning and go to bed at night without knowing. How do I do it? Do I, or am I live, or am I pretending with everyone else.

I don't think the Truth resides where I am, I need to move. But I'm afraid that I won't find it anywhere but inside myself.

Time progression

Well, I have to successfully report that the happiness that I held in my heart when I drove away has never left me, even two months on my own.

In other news, I'm now officially breaking even, a good two months before I thought I was going to be earning enough.

Also, an observation: if people seem most happy before they achieve something, then it is best for them to have goals that are very ambitious. However, if one does not learn to thoroughly enjoy the process, then find some other profession, methinks.

Well, that's it for now, I'm going to take a shower.

Curious

I've been day playing on this job, filling in for someone. I've worked four days, three of which were spent in a beautiful forest, which I didn't think existed within 100 miles of LA. All told, we saw a bobcat, two rattlesnakes(really!), and countless lizards, squirrels, and insects.

Driving there in the mornings, the call time was at a decent hour, which meant I had to squeeze by a section of traffic going to downtown and then I was free going against the traffic. My route took me from the 10 East to the 110 North, to the 5 East, to the 2 North. I think I spent 6 or 7 minutes on each freeway. A bit different from the Bay Area.

Also, the Lady Purity hit 88,888 miles when I drove up to my humble abode at the end of a day.

Name Explaination

So, here we are. New life, new blog. Basically this blog will document(perhaps infrequently, though hopefully I'll get a groove going) my adventures in the city of dreams, Los Angeles.

This title came from a dream. I was being chased by a monster. Very interesting monster. Can't really describe it very well in any sizable way. Anyway, I was in this hamster wheel type thing, that was rolling down the street. I was peddling it, and we were booking! And then I realized that the wheel was powering the monster, and when I jumped out, the monster came to a crashing halt. So, yeah. That's the story. Which is a nice metaphor to the grinding work I'll be doing in order to try and find work on a good story. Working the lame content until something awesome comes along. Anyway, I've been here for almost 4 weeks now, had many crazy things happen, met some interesting people, and I'll write some more when I have more time.

And no, I was not under the influence of anything the night before I had the dream. Just so that's clear.

The Moose

And I was going to compare the dream to a Salavdor Dali painting, but I don't think it was quite that awesome. Almost.
